ABOUT OUR RIDES - GROUP STRUCTURE

Group speed and distance varies according to the riders present and environmental conditions. A general rule of thumb (for weeknight rides):  A Group - Advanced Riders Speed: 19+ mph Distance: 35+ miles

  • The A Group maintains a very high level of fitness and endurance.
  • Cruising speeds are 23-27 mph on flat terrains (no tailwind or descent).
  • A Group offers intense training rides with the occasional heavy sprint.
  • This is a drop ride.

Group B - Intermediate Riders Speed: 18-19 mph Distance: 30-35 miles

  • The B Group develops and practices pace lining techniques and skills.
  • Cruising speeds are 19-22 mph on flat terrain.
  • B Group offers a friendly, no-drop ride.  It is fast-paced, so exercise caution before attempting this group.

C Group - Friendly Riders Speed: 14-17 mph Distance: 20-25 miles

  • The C Group is a touring ride group with some pace lining. It is designed for having fun, getting some exercise, enjoying companionship and scenery, and developing skills at faster speeds.
  • Cruising speeds are typically about 16 mph on flat terrain.
  • C Group rides are no-drop rides. They are not for the impatient or hurried, so leave your ego at home. Courtesy and respect are the key words for this group.

D Group - Beginner Rides (Tuesdays only) Speed: 5-13 mph Distance: based on group’s comfortability, often 8-12 miles

  • The D Group focuses on learning group dynamics, safety, bike handling, and how to handle minor mechanical problems.
  • An experienced club member leads the rides to make sure all questions are answered and no one gets lost.
  • D Group rides are no-drop rides. They are for new riders and those that just want to ride or learn. Speed is not a factor. The emphasis is on having fun and learning to handle your bike safely.
